The Modern Steel Construction Magazine article entitled "Fire Protection To Go" features the advantages of shop applied intumescent paint applications. With our experience, large warehouse facility and adjoining storage yard we were selected as the logical Contractor to accomplish this work. This project came in under budget, on schedule, and also enhanced safety as a result of applying the intumescent paint products prior to the erection of the steel.
By shipping the steel as a finished product, it was able to be taken from the truck and immediately hung in place minimizing the handling typically necessary as well as the wait time that would have been necessary for the application of multiple layers of paint in the field. This procedure allows for the other trades performing work in the area to be released immediately, expediting the schedule immensely.
